My 2012 Netbook Reflection

My name is Michael W from Panmure Bridge School and this is my netbook reflection. I have so far enjoyed the new research capabilities unlocked by my netbook, it is much easier to do things, such as working with a partner, or even being easier to type than writing.

It is mostly annoying, with all the different sites. It becomes easier and easier to go off-task now then it was before. With all the adverts in most learning sites it’s easy to become distracted

I think that there are too many problems on the netbook, glitches, slow Internet, and many other programs. And all the amounts of people going on one website nearly brings the computer to a halt, not to mention all the lag anyway.

I have enjoyed the time I have been able to use my netbook

A boy's head

A boy’s head

In it there is a tank
and a project
for making school more fun

And there is
a car,
which shall be first

And there is
an entirely new planet
an entirely new civilisation
an entirely new food

There is food
that eats itself

There is a school

There is anti-suns

And it cannot be contained

I believe
that only what cannot be contained
is a head.

There is much promise
in the circumstance
that so many people have heads.

This Is Just To Say

This Is Just To Say

I have devoured
the lollies
that were in
the cupboard.

And which
you were probably
saving
for dessert.

Forgive me
they were delectable,
so sweet,
and so soft.

I asked the little boy who cannot see

I asked the little boy who cannot see

I asked the little boy who cannot see,
“And what is colour like?”
“Why yellow,” said he,
“Is like the beautiful birds you hear in the great forests of New Zealand,
The pine trees they hide in, they are dark green,
And blue is like the sky as it feels like God is looking upon you,
Pink is as the smell when you are around delicious fruit,
Purple is like tasting fresh berries that I picked from a bush,
White is the the paper on which I write stories,
Yellow is the warmth of fire that burns in the furnace,
And red is the raspberry pie my father makes when he is bored”

My Tui Report

Tui Report
Tuis are majestic birds with very black feathers. They have a bright white tuft under their chin which illuminates them.

They’re known to live in a lot of places such as open country and gardens they can also be found in forests or scrubs. They usually are in places which have supplies of nectar, sometimes tui travel outside their usual territory to feed.  These birds are found throughout New Zealand.

Tui leave to islands to hatch and lay eggs.  These eggs take 2 weeks to hatch.  They usually lay 2-4 eggs and nest between November and December.

The young feed on insects and nectar for the first few days.  Slightly older birds feed on berries, moths, spiders, and large insects, mostly stick insects.  Older Tui feed on nectar, insects, fruit, and berries.

They are the first to call or sing in the morning and they sing many different notes usually bell like or sometimes croaks, coughs, or squeaks.

Snorkelling

MY SWIMMING RECOUNT

Snap! I felt a sharp pain, my vision was blurred for a second, I could see a  dark blue blur. Suddenly I felt like I was under the sea.  A quiet sound rang in my ears as I threw my head out of the water. The quiet noise immediately turned to shouting.

I was told “Today we will be snorkeling I need you all to duck down and guess your partners number.” I burst under the water struggling to see my partners number. I couldn't breathe I leapt out of the water gasping for breath. I was forced to do this four times, on the third time it became fun.

We were all handed snorkles to use.  I tested mine.  I knelt down and magically it worked! Breathing slowly but pacing myself I worked my way towards Mr Burton. “Free time!” Mr Burton exclaimed with glee. I lay on my belly floating along peacefully.

A shocking noise suddenly rang in my ears “Time to get out.” said Mr Burton. I sighed as we took off our gear. As I walked back to class I thought about how good my day was. I had enjoyed my time in the pool.

My reflective learning journal

My Reflective Learning  Journal

This week I learnt about the lines of symmetry.

I was learning this so that I knew how to complete my Tapa art.

I know I have learnt this because I have completed my work about it and found it easy.

A question I now have is could someone use them all at once?

Next week I need to work on learning the names of all the shapes symmetry can be used on.

The best activity of the week was finishing my Tapa art
because I could use my imagination to create designs.

I know someone who can...

I know someone who can
throw chips in the air and catch them in their mouth.
I know someone who can
juggle tennis balls.
I know someone who can
wiggle their little toe.
I know someone who can
eat 18 pancakes in 20 minutes.
I know someone who can
balance a book on their head.
I know someone who can
pull himself around on the grass or carpet using only his hands.
I know someone who can
make his thumb touch his wrist.
I know someone who can
recite his time tables.
I know someone who can
type without looking.
I know someone who
can perform magic tricks.
I know someone who can
watch a scary movie and not be scared.
I know someone who can
climb tall trees.
and that someone is
me!

The day

My Holiday Story

The day was here, finally. Aunty slowly opened the door. I could see Jake the dogs eyes and I knew he wanted to get out of the car. It seemed like he had waited hours in the flaming hot car. He came out like a bullet. I sped up and ran, his collar was within reach.  I held on like my life was at stake.  He pulled me along onto the sand.

I ran away from Jake who was still sprinting down the beach. The water was freezing cold, it would have been perfect for a swim, if it was hot. I knew we had to get Jake under control otherwise something dangerous might happen our we might get in trouble by other people.

I sped away to Aunty and was instantly told to chase Jake again. I knew I was ready to catch him.  I could see the darkness of his fur and I had already thought of a plan.

I herded Jake towards Aunty.  It worked I couldn't believe it worked but I wasted our time at the beach because we had to leave. I had so much fun I never wanted to leave, or at least come back again another day.

Even though I wasted my day I still had a great one. I was so tired I slept all the way home.
